Goodnight Moonshine is a guitar and vocal duet, and a musical marriage in all senses. Press Release for Latest Single, "My Sister Evangeline"

Goodnight Moonshine, an Americana duo based in New Haven, CT, is back with their new single: “My Sister Evangeline” feat. Laurie MacAllister and Abbie Gardner (Red Molly). The pair consists of Molly Venter (Red Molly) and Eben Pariser (Roosevelt Dime), a couple both on and off the stage. “My Sister Evangeline” tackles the powerful themes of independence, loss, and family – with the grace characteristic of Molly’s voice and songwriting. Not only beautiful to listen to, but ultimately heartbreaking in its relatability. This song serves as a careful reminder that the stories we tell ourselves can lead us away from the love that is right in front of us. As Molly sings, “did you love me all this time?” the dichotomy of individuality vs. family relationships is forced to the forefront. There is never enough time, never enough forgiveness, and never enough gratitude, often until it is too late. Molly asks the listener to examine the relationships in their own life and find the joy and strength in them that is often overlooked.

“My Sister Evangeline” peers into the intricacy of family, teeming with Red Molly signature harmonies from Laurie and influenced by the “classic country” vocal style of Patsy Cline. This combined with Eben’s free-flowing improv guitars echoing Bill Frisell and Jerry Garcia, and a bass harkening back to Otis Redding’s classic “Dock Of the Bay,” create a song that is evocative, painful, and sentimental.

With “My Sister Evangeline,” Goodnight Moonshine has given us another poignant and honest piece, full of Molly’s charming vulnerability - which makes this group so memorable and exciting. While not autobiographical, this song gets to a deeper truth that will resonate with all listeners and leave them excited to hear more. This is clear already, as the song has been playlisted on  New Americana Music You May Have Never Heard, Feel Good Country Songs, Campfire, and New Folk, Americana, Country – Rising Artists.
